How Long Will It Take to Heal?

What to Do in the Waiting Season of Chronic Symptom Recovery
To the one who’s doing it naturally...
The one cooking from scratch, reading every label, giving up their weekends to prep meat stock, and praying that all this effort is actually leading somewhere...
This is for you.
Because no matter where you are on your healing journey — whether you're two weeks in or two years deep — the question eventually comes:
“How long is this going to take?”
It’s the first thing most people ask when they finally find a protocol that looks promising. And honestly, it’s understandable. You’ve been dealing with symptoms for what feels like forever — fatigue, food reactions, chronic infections, digestive issues — and now you want to know if there’s a finish line.
You’re not impatient. You’re invested.
You just want to know that the work you’re putting in will pay off.
Let’s talk about that.
There’s No Set Timeline — But There Is a Pattern
A mentor once told me:
It takes about one month of healing for every year you’ve had the issue.
So if you’ve had chronic fatigue or gut issues for 12 years? Expect at least 12 focused months of real healing.
That might feel discouraging at first — but it’s actually empowering. Because once you understand that healing is a long game, it frees you from the constant second-guessing. It gives you permission to go slow and go deep. It keeps you from jumping ship every time a symptom flares or someone on social media tells you to try something new.
Now here’s what most people don’t realize:
It’s not just about time passing — it’s about how targeted your healing work is.
Twelve months of clean-ish eating and dabbling in detox won’t move the needle the same way twelve months of committed, strategic gut-nervous system-detox work will.
When your healing months are targeted, not chaotic — you see real progress.

What Slows Healing Down?
Before we get into what speeds it up, let’s be honest about what holds people back.
-
Constantly switching strategies
-
Looking for a “quick fix” instead of doing deep, foundational work
-
Living in chronic stress (and not realizing it)
-
Isolating yourself and doing it all alone
-
Obsessively researching instead of resting in what you’ve already learned
-
Neglecting detox or nervous system support, thinking food alone will fix it
These patterns don’t just waste time — they actually keep the body stuck in survival mode. And when your body is stuck in survival, healing gets put on hold.
So instead of trying to “do more,” the key is to align with what works.
What Actually Speeds Healing Up?
Here’s what I’ve seen move the needle in my life and with the people I support:
-
A true food-as-medicine foundation
Not just eating “clean,” but knowing how to prepare therapeutic foods the right way, in the right season of your healing. -
Habitual detox support
Not just a juice cleanse every few months, but regular practices like coffee enemas, sauna, binders, lymphatic support — done consistently. -
Emotional healing and nervous system regulation
Trauma can block the body’s ability to detox and repair. Learning how to process stress and rewire old patterns matters more than most people realize. -
Targeted lifestyle shifts
Think: time outside, reducing EMF exposure, getting sunlight at the right times of day, decreasing environmental toxins, and creating rhythms that ground the body. -
Reducing stress for a season
This might mean changing jobs, saying no to certain obligations, or setting boundaries that protect your healing time. -
Getting outside support
Having someone who can spot gaps in your process and guide you through roadblocks can save you years of wasted time. Even the most educated person benefits from outside perspective.
And I’ll add one more that’s often overlooked…
-
Staying out of the noise
The wellness world is loud. There’s always a new thing. A new toxin. A new must-have protocol. But you don’t need more information — you need integration.
This is why so many people never see results. They never stay the course long enough to find out if what they’re doing actually works. If you would like to hear my top 3 tips for long term sustainable recovery, here is the video I dig deep into that.
A Healing Strategy That Works
When I teach people how to heal naturally, I focus on three pillars:
-
Gut health
-
Detoxification
-
Nervous system regulation
And I help them build this process with food first, not supplements. That’s what makes it sustainable. That’s what makes it foundational. It’s also why many of my clients see major shifts in less time than they thought possible — because they’re finally working with their body, not against it.
This is exactly what I walk people through in my program, Whole Health Blueprint — a six-month coaching container that includes an extended support period for those who need it. Because I know real healing takes time. And I’m not here to sell shortcuts — I’m here to help you finish the race.
What to Do When You’re in the Waiting
If you're already committed to a root-cause, natural approach — and you're doing the deeper work — but you’re not seeing results yet…
Let me remind you:
This is working, even if it feels slow.
Healing isn’t always visible at first.
It’s often internal. Subtle. Cyclical.
Some days you’ll feel amazing. Other days you’ll wonder if you’re going backwards. That doesn’t mean it’s not working — it means you’re going deeper.
But you weren’t meant to do this alone.
If you need encouragement, direction, or just people who get it, I invite you to join my free community, Wholeness Hub— a space off social media where we do live Q&As, share resources, and support one another in this healing lifestyle.
You’ll find the link below. We’d love to have you.
And above all — don’t quit.
You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be faithful.
Your body wants to heal.
Your symptoms are not the end of the story.
And no matter how long it takes — you are not alone in the process.
